For many people running has immense value because you can help let go of stressful thoughts, loops of thought, worries about work. Don’t let the invitation to think about thinking creatively when running ruin that for you.
This is not a suggestion to try and grind more value out of every activity you do. It is an invitation to play with what you think about when participating in a run.
One suggestion already on this site under the post “ideas for creative running” is to meditate. I’ve found focusing on my breathing pattern benefical to my run physically but also a good focus for my concentration. Or perhaps you could dedicate a run to thinking about a something in your life you are thankful for.
You could write a poem or a song on route. Maybe the rhythm of the run might help, or maybe the memory challenge is fun.
If you listen to audiobooks or podcasts you can think about what you are listening to, or listen to something educational, or language lessons. Again, don’t let these suggestions feel weighty demands to squeeze more productivity out of yet another part of your day. It’s an invitation to play.
Run, respect and go create. Have fun x
