takes off the watch and runs to feel
the fresh air on their face
the treadmills pace
is steady and set
for an easy day not a race
Just gets out the door
it can be challenge enough

A good runner paces themselves well
A negative split and pockets of gels
paces their friend to a personal best
plans out their year or doesn’t care what’s next
Is disciplined and consistent
runs an easy day just as planned
goes out the window as excited feet demand
speed and adrenaline or just somewhere new
A good runner ignores all this
A good runner puts on their shoes
